Debunking Myth : Is "Ubuntu" a Spying on Me ??

After reading the title of this post, you might be a bit astonished ,WTF!!! is Ubuntu really spying on ME??.

Ubuntu is currently the most popular Linux distribution used by a hell lot of people including myself and it is the most user friendly Linux distro i have ever seen.Ubuntu has lot of cool features like a software center, periodic updates and of course, its based on Debian.

So, Is Ubuntu Really Spying on Me??

The answer for this question is "YES".Ubuntu is definitely spying on you.It records all your dash searches and is sending all your information to interested parties like Amazon,Facebook,Twitter etc. If you really want to see this for yourself then

Goto DASH(press SUPER key) - > System Settings - >Details

And you can see this for yourselves

Should i be worried about this ?

I personally think that you are not supposed to be worrying too much about this because in todays world all your information ONLINE or OFFLINE is getting recorded somewhere.

For example , Android is sending all your usage data to GOOGLE and they inturn are selling to INTERESTED PARTIES.Facebook,Twitter, etc are collecting a lot of information about you on a daily basis.

So until and unless you are too much bothered about your privacy, you can use ubuntu otherwise it will be better you go for other linux distroz or build one from scratch.

Why is Canonical doing this ??

Canonical(The Makers of UBUNTU) is a company which is still running in a loss. But, they are very keen in making ubuntu better because their are passionate about what they do.

Most of Canonical's income comes from the money which these giants(Amazon, facebook, etc) pay to canonical in exchange of the user data which they collect.

So we can't blame Canonical for spying on us.because if they stop doing this then releasing new versions of ubuntu will be inturn difficult for them and finally may lead to and end of ubuntu.
